I planned a trip to Charleston with my 14 yr. old daughter. In preparation for the trip, I consulted a website devoted to the available tours in Charleston. Your website was one of the many cited. I found yours to be the most attractive, informative, and easy to navigate. When I completed your site, I was convinced that your tour was the one for us.
I e-mailed my reservation request and was pleased to receive a prompt reply. Some of your tour competitors have yet to reply. We toured with you April 14, 2001at 1:00pm. What a treat! The bus was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed listening to the Gullah language. The information you imparted about the African American history was fascinating and sparked our interest in revisiting some of the sites you pointed out on future trips.
The highlight of the tour was the visit to Mr. Simmons home. The fact that he was not at home did not diminish the joy we felt standing in his studio watching the other artisans at work. The account of his answer to the question, "Are you rich?' was especially meaningful. When we returned to our hotel, my daughter said, "Mother, I want to be rich in the way Mr. Simmons says he is rich". You might tell others that your tour is $15.00. I disagree. It is priceless.
Thank you. I will recommend your tour without reservation to others.

"Now that I'm back in Singapore, I'd like to let you know how much my friend, Mary from Atlanta, and I enjoyed your tour. The tour and the fine opportunity to meet Philip Simmons, were the high point of my trip to America. You gave us lots of fascinating information."

"Thank you so much for the fabulous "Gullah Tour." We loved your delightful narration. You were able to discuss so many ideas & issues about such a variety of areas that if someone were able to hear only one person talk about Charleston, I think it should be you! We were almost unable to make your tour, & it turned out to be my best memory of Charleston. Having never been to the South & not sure if I will ever get to come back, I THANK you."

"Thank you for a wonderful, wonderful tour. The extra time you took to give the "Texas Pharmacist" a special tour during our visit in July, 1998 was greatly appreciated. We personally enjoyed all the sites, stories and Gullah langauge. We all enjoyed the visit with Mr. Simmons. As a token of our appreciation....a Dallas Cowboys cap to enjoy the football season. Thank you for a great Gullah experience!"

"I want to thank you for the educational an entertaining tour you conducted. I am the lady who was given the beautiful piece of iron work during the visit to the shop of Philip Simmons. This was certainly the highlight of what was two of the most memorable days of my life. I was born in Charleston and had not been back for more than forty years. Your enthusiasm, knowledge of all of the history of this beautiful city and warm spirit made the tour unforgettable and I am already talking to my sister about visiting Charleston again in the next couple of months. Listening to the history, hearing you share the wonderful anecdotes and watching a successful Black American male operate a totally professional and successful business was an extra bonus."
